SOUR CREAM POUND CAKE

My mother used to make a sour cream cake and she would add "6 glugs" of Sherry to the mix. This recipe is generally the same, but without the Sherry. It's one that my husband likes, so I am adding it to my cook book.

3 cups sugar
2 sticks butter (1 cup) - softened
6 large eggs
3 cups cake flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sour cream (8 oz)
1/4 tsp soda
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Sift sugar three times. Cream butter and add sugar until mixed well. Add eggs, one at a time, and mix well. Add salt to flour and sift together three times. Add soda to sour cream and mix well. Starting and ending with flour, alternate adding flour and sour cream to batter, mix well. Add vanilla extract. Pour batter into a well greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 325 for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Tooth pick inserted into cake should come out clean.

Oh, and for those of you who are wondering what a "glug" is...take the bottle, tip it to pour, and as it comes out it "glugs", so count 6 of those glugs!

Enjoy and stay turned for more recipes and new products!

Thanks for stopping by!
