MY FAVORITE CHILI
1 pound
ground beef1 pound ground turkey
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion (optional)
1 16-oz can of red kidney beans, drained
(light or dark)
2 29-oz cans of tomato sauce
1 15-oz can of tomato sauce
2-3 teaspoons chili powder
½ tsp sweet basil, crushed
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
In large
skillet cook beef, turkey, garlic and onion (if using) until meat is brown.
Drain fat.
In a large
sauce pan (6 qt minimum) combine kidney beans, 2 29-oz cans tomato sauce, chili powder, sweet
basil, salt and pepper.Add meat mixture and mix well. Add the 15-oz can of tomato sauce.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat. Cover, simmer for 20 minutes.
The chili can be topped with shredded cheese and/or saltine crackers.
Serves 4.
